FeVanadium production process

The production of ferrovanadium involves multiple stages, starting with the raw materials required for production, to refining and purifying the final product.

Raw materials required for fervanadium production

The production of ferrovanadium requires two main raw materials: vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) and iron.

Vanadium pentoxide is usually obtained from vanadium-bearing ores such as vanadium-bearing titanium magnetite or vanadium-bearing slag through a series of chemical processes. Iron, on the other hand, usually comes from iron ore or scrap iron.

Preparation of raw materials
Before starting the production process, raw materials need to be prepared. Vanadium pentoxide is converted through a reduction process into vanadium trioxide (V2O3) or ferrovanadium slag, which contains iron and vanadium. This reduction process requires precise control of temperature and chemical reactions to ensure the desired ingredients are obtained. Iron ore or scrap iron is processed to remove impurities and obtain high-quality iron raw materials. This involves crushing, grinding and magnetic separation to separate the iron from other minerals.
