Calcium carbide - the influence of impurities in carbon raw materials:
The increase in ash content in carbon raw materials has a comprehensive impact on the power consumption and coke consumption of calcium carbide. High ash content will cause a decrease in fixed carbon content, which will inevitably affect the proportion of the charge during calcium carbide production, and then affect the resistance of the charge, causing the electrode to rise and heat loss to increase. According to production tests, for every 1% increase in ash content in coke, the actual power consumption of calcium carbide will increase by 50-60kWh/t.
The influence of moisture in carbon materials cannot be ignored. Every 1% of moisture in coke affects the increase in power consumption by 11.8kWh.
10-15% of the volatile matter in carbon materials is decomposed and carbonized in the furnace, reducing the efficiency of carbon materials. If the volatile matter in carbon raw materials increases by 1%, the production of each ton of calcium carbide consumes 3-5kWh/t more electricity. In addition, the volatile matter is close to the reaction zone, forming a semi-molten and sticky state, making it difficult for the material in the reaction zone to fall, which is easy to cause spraying and increase heat loss.
