Vanadium-nitrogen alloy steel bids strengthen again
August 27, 2025: Summary of vanadium product transaction prices: Vanadium-nitrogen alloy 123,000-127,000 RMB/ton on acceptance, ferrovanadium 85,500-86,500 RMB/ton on acceptance; retail vanadium flakes 76,500-77,000 RMB/ton cash; 98% ammonium metavanadate 72,000 RMB/ton cash.
Vanadium alloy: Amidst a shortage of vanadium-nitrogen alloys, medium and large-scale steel bids strengthened again yesterday, with transactions ranging from 126,000-127,000 RMB/ton on acceptance. Vanadium-nitrogen mills reported a lack of spot supply, with some suspending quotations and scheduling deliveries. Ferrovanadium transactions remained sluggish. Cost-supported, Liaoning mills' offers were primarily 86,000-87,000 RMB/ton cash, but actual transactions remained difficult.
Vanadium raw materials: Vanadium-nitrogen alloys are relatively strong, but demand for ferrovanadium is weak. Retail vanadium flake transactions are currently stagnant at around 76,500-77,000 yuan/ton cash. Alloy mills are relatively cautious in purchasing, with transactions mainly focused on just-in-time needs. However, due to the strong performance of vanadium-nitrogen alloys, retail vanadium flakes remain reluctant to sell, with low-priced supplies scarce. 98-grade ammonium is currently trading at 72,000 yuan/ton cash. Chemical transactions are sluggish, with some downstream suppliers pushing prices down to 71,000 yuan, making it difficult to find supply.
Month-end bidding prices for vanadium-nitrogen steel from medium and large steel mills are showing signs of improvement compared to the previous week, further boosting confidence in the vanadium market and limiting low-priced supply.
